My Values & Training

guiding values & my training

Values

I am motivated by these guiding values, which serve as a compass for me and how I aim to hold my sessions:

Integrity

To me, working with integrity means that I communicate well and clearly with you, that we co-create our agreements for working together, and that I don't overstep into your own healing process.

Appreciation & Affirmation

To me, working with appreciation means that I celebrate the parts of you that are ready to speak and respect those that aren't, that I honor your inherent wisdom, and that I work to help us remember the reality and validity of our feelings.

Emergence & Adventure

To me, this means that we work with whatever arises on any particular day, and value whatever presents itself during a session (even if it's different than what may have been expected). Breathwork is always somewhat of an adventure, and I remind us of that if and when the unexpected emerges.

Holding Context

To me, valuing context means that we account for and integrate the impact of the systems of oppression we operate within, that we honor the legacies of our ancestors and what they've passed along to us, and that I hold your feelings and behaviors with an awareness of where they come from and what you've gone through.

My Training

I'm currently certified as an ethically compliant breathwork facilitator through the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance, and I'm an apprentice with two different schools of integrative breathwork training to become a fully certified breathworker. I've completed over 500 hours of training thus far. Both of these schools include ongoing supervision of practitioners and incorporate ethical training, facilitation skill-building, breathing mechanics, assessing patterns and issues, and guidelines for the client-practitioner relationship.

In addition to the breathworker trainings, I have also participated in trainings or workshops in: multicultural competence, understanding white supremacy cultural characteristics, facilitation, organizational leadership, intuitive development, sacred sexuality, land connection, ancestral connection, and the art of feedback.

I aim to hold my breathwork sessions in ways that support those with marginalized identities and experiences to feel safe and valid. I have taken and continue to pursue trainings that help me recognize blind spots borne of the privileges I hold to better be able to support people who come from experiences and identities different from mine.
