integrative breathwork sessions
what to expect
It totally depends on the session! Each one is different, and will be every time. People can experience a range of things, such as: increased sensation and awareness of their body, heart, and mind; feelings and experiences that have been unattended to; insight about their motivations, behaviors, desires, and the dynamics they are experiencing; and a heightened sense of connection to parts of themselves, the world around them, a sense of guidance, and others.
We start by checking in and then observing and analyzing your current breathing patterns while sitting down. After the initial observation of your breathing, we'll transition into lying down and breathing with more of the full body. The bulk of the session will be lying down and doing the breathwork, with me lightly guiding when I think it's appropriate. Once the session is over, I'll send you detailed notes about what came up during the session (since sometimes it can be hard to remember what happened). I will sometimes include invitations for things to explore in between sessions in the notes I send you.
Length: Sessions last between 90 minutes and 2 hours, typically, though can go longer in special circumstances when more content comes up.
Beforehand
To prepare for a session, if you have the time, you can rinse off, get into comfy clothing, and set up your space to be comforting. If you don't have the time to do that beforehand, just come as you are. If it's a virtual session, you'll need to set up a phone or laptop in a way that I'll be able to see and hear you while you are lying down and breathing.
During
We begin by grounding, relaxing, and breathing together. As you settle into it, you'll eventually start to notice feelings, images, or sensations that are ready for exploring. When that happens, I'll be there to help facilitate your process and support you to engage with whoever and whatever shows up along the way.
Afterwards
At the end of the session, we'll take a few minutes to debrief and make sure you feel ready to transition. Make sure to take care throughout your day and in the days following the session by drinking plenty of water, resting, and journaling as you feel called.
Client Testimonial
"Working with Em in breathwork sessions was a gift for my own breath practice. Em is gifted in gently guiding, offering meaningful prompts and explorations, and holding the space for what surfaces during a breathing session. I appreciated her structure of the breath sessions--I never felt surprised about what was coming next. Em is very thorough in her work with clients--prior to working together, she went through a detailed inventory of my history and after each session she provided summary notes encapsulating what transpired. Em is a safe presence in guiding breathwork for the purposes of befriending the breath and noticing its power and becoming more deeply aware of what is happening in the body."

We must play returning at night empty handed and tired
